William Henry Harrison

William Henry Harrison, an old general famous for the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe, won the 1840 election with the memorable slogan 'Tippecanoe and Tyler Too.'

His presidency was the shortest in history. He delivered a nearly two-hour inaugural address in cold weather without a coat, fell ill, and died of illness just 31 days into his term—the first president to die in office. His death immediately raised the unsettled question of presidential succession.
